Northtown is an imaginary townscape blending depictions of real buildings found in South Pennine towns such as Hebden Bridge and Todmorden.
An archetypal northern town where weavers cottages, terraced houses, a classical town hall and a huge mill stand side by side overlooking a canal.
Although Northtown begins as a woodcut print, it's not part of an edition because each one is unique.
The woodcut is first printed on paper then adhered to a sheet of plywood. Next it is coloured with oil paint combined with an archival wax.
Further layers of wax are added to protect the surface which means that the artwork is water resistant and can be framed without glass, avoiding reflections.
I make Northtown to order, complete with the frame so it can take up to 3 weeks before shipping is possible.
Approximate dimensions including the frame are 70cm x 27cm
The artwork will be carefully wrapped and shipped in very sturdy packaging.
