One of a series of Yorkshire landscape artworks I have created to celebrate the unique atmosphere of Upper Calderdale, Rain On The Rochdale Canal features the Canal running through Hebden Bridge.

If you walk out of the town heading towards Todmorden you go along this lovely stretch of the tow path. The building in the distance is the Stubbing Wharf, a pub where many visitors have enjoyed some canalside refreshment.

Whilst strolling you can be mesmerised by reflections on the canal surface, and this is especially true when raindrops are creating multiple tiny ripples. Possibly a reason to enjoy a light shower!

I really wanted to capture the tranquil mood of gentle rain and liquid light that is an aspect of winter life in this part of West Yorkshire.
