A large-scale drawing in charcoal capturing a brief moment of energy in a timeless scene typical of the Yorkshire upland landscape. Steep cloughs (narrow valleys made by streams) cut down through the heathery slopes of the moorland into the valley. In the late winter, there is controlled burning of the heather and the blustery winds swirl smoke across the hills making intriguing shapes.
Willow charcoal on smooth acid-free cartridge paper. Finished with non-yellowing fixative.
