Taken from a series of atmospheric charcoal drawings of the Yorkshire landscape this is art which aims to connect you to a dramatic corner of the Pennines in all its moods.
 
Turning down this lane leads you directly westwards. In winter when dusk comes early the leafless trees are silhouetted against the last dazzle of the sun setting behind Heptonstall hill.
 
A familiar scene in many of the Upper Calderdale villages. The drystone walls here are unusually high and rather unexpectedly surround a hill top cricket pitch! The lane leads down from Oldtown on the hill, through steep fields to the town of Hebden Bridge in the valley below.
 
I enjoyed drawing all the detail in the stone walls and even more the gleaming puddles leading along the lane as it curves away and leaves us wondering about the view that might be round the corner.
